The Kemerovo Regional Parliamentarian Council addressed the government of the Russian Federation with a request for a time zone shift to GMT+6 (a +3-hour difference from Moscow). Today, the Kemerovo region is the only one in Western Siberia that has a +4-hour difference from the Russian capital. Such time standards were established for some western-Siberian regions back in the 1960s, but now only remain in Kuzbass. Neighbouring regions like Novosibirsk, Tomsk, and Altai, have returned to the +3-hour difference, which corresponds to their actual world time zone.
